High-Speed 4G LTE Cat 12
The major advantage of the RUTX14 is its LTE Cat 12 modem, providing significantly higher cellular performance than conventional Cat 4 and Cat 6 industrial routers.
Maximum theoretical cellular speeds are:
- Download: up to 600 Mbps
- Upload: up to 150 Mbps
This makes the RUTX14 an excellent option for applications requiring higher cellular bandwidth, including CCTV, remote video, large data transfers, industrial systems, remote offices and high-performance IoT gateways.
Actual speeds will depend on the mobile operator, available LTE bands, Carrier Aggregation, network congestion and signal conditions.
Dual SIM with Automatic Failover
The RUTX14 features two external SIM slots, allowing SIM cards from different mobile operators to be installed.
Automatic SIM switching can be triggered by conditions including:
- Weak mobile signal
- Data limit reached
- SMS limit
- Roaming
- No network
- Network denied
- Data connection failure
- SIM idle protection
For critical industrial installations, this allows a secondary mobile service to act as backup if the primary connection becomes unavailable.
Important: Unlike the RUTX12, the RUTX14 is a single-modem Dual SIM router. Its strength is the much faster LTE Cat 12 connection rather than two simultaneous LTE modems.
Automatic Failover & Multi-WAN Load Balancing
The RUTX14 supports several WAN connectivity options and can automatically switch between connections when required.
Network backup can use:
- Mobile 4G
- Wired WAN
- Wi-Fi WAN
- VRRP
The router also supports load balancing across multiple WAN connections, providing additional flexibility for industrial and enterprise networks.
This makes the RUTX14 particularly useful for sites where connectivity must remain available even if the primary internet service fails.
Dual-Band Wi-Fi 5
The RUTX14 includes high-performance 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi 5, supporting both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless networks with speeds up to 867 Mbps.
Wireless capabilities include:
- Dual-band 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz
- MU-MIMO
- Access Point mode
- Station mode
- Up to 150 simultaneous Wi-Fi connections
- Wireless mesh – 802.11s
- Fast roaming – 802.11r
- 802.11k and 802.11v
- WPA2 and WPA3 security
- MAC address filtering
- Wi-Fi QR code generation
5 × Gigabit Ethernet Ports
The RUTX14 provides five Gigabit Ethernet interfaces:
- 4 × 10/100/1000 Mbps LAN
- 1 × 10/100/1000 Mbps WAN, configurable as LAN
The router supports up to 128 port/tag-based VLANs, making it suitable for more sophisticated industrial and enterprise networks requiring segmentation of equipment, cameras, controllers, IoT devices or other network assets.
Industrial IoT Gateway & Protocol Support
The RUTX14 can perform considerably more than basic cellular routing. Its RutOS platform includes a strong range of industrial communication and IoT protocols.
Supported technologies include:
- Modbus TCP Client & Server
- MQTT
- Modbus MQTT Gateway
- BACnet
- OPC UA Client & Server
- DNP3
- DLMS/COSEM
- HTTP/HTTPS
- Azure MQTT
- SNMP
- Custom Lua scripting
The Data to Server feature can extract parameters from multiple sources and protocols and forward them to a central server using HTTP(S), MQTT or Azure MQTT.
This capability makes the RUTX14 particularly useful as an Industrial IoT gateway for connecting meters, controllers and industrial equipment to remote monitoring and cloud platforms.
Advanced VPN & Cybersecurity
The RUTX14 includes extensive VPN capabilities for secure remote access and site-to-site communications, including:
- OpenVPN
- IPsec
- WireGuard
- ZeroTier
- Tailscale
- DMVPN
- GRE
- L2TP
- PPTP
- SSTP
- Tinc
- Stunnel
Security functionality includes firewall configuration, DDoS prevention, port scan protection, VLAN separation, certificate management, RADIUS/TACACS+ authentication, mobile quota controls and configurable access control.
Integrated GNSS / GPS
Integrated GNSS provides support for:
- GPS
- GLONASS
- BeiDou
- Galileo
- QZSS
GNSS coordinates can be accessed through the WebUI, SMS, TAVL and RMS. The RUTX14 also supports NMEA 0183, NTRIP and configurable geofencing.
This makes the router suitable for transport, mobile equipment, temporary sites and other applications where location information is useful.
Digital I/O for Industrial Applications
The RUTX14 incorporates:
- 1 × Digital Input
- 1 × Open Collector Digital Output
The digital input recognises 0–6 V as logic low and 8–30 V as logic high. The output supports up to 30 V and 300 mA. Events can be linked to Email, RMS or SMS, while Teltonika's I/O Juggler can be used to configure actions based on I/O conditions.
This provides additional flexibility for alarm monitoring, equipment status, remote control and basic industrial automation applications.
Rugged Industrial Design
The RUTX14 is designed for demanding industrial environments.
Its hardware features:
- Anodised aluminium housing
-
-40°C to +75°C operating temperature
- 10–90% non-condensing operating humidity
- IP30 rating
- DIN rail, wall or flat-surface mounting options
- Grounding connection
The router accepts a wide 9–50 VDC input and includes reverse-polarity and voltage surge/transient protection. Passive PoE input through LAN1 is also available, although this is not IEEE 802.3af/at/bt PoE.
Teltonika RMS Remote Management
The RUTX14 is compatible with Teltonika Remote Management System (RMS) for remotely managing deployed routers.
RMS can assist with:
- Remote access
- Device monitoring
- Configuration
- Alerts
- Firmware updates
- Troubleshooting
- Management of multiple deployed routers
The product flyer specifically highlights RMS management, alerts, configuration, access and FOTA capabilities.
The router additionally supports WebUI, CLI, SSH, SMS, TR-069, SNMP, JSON-RPC and MQTT management interfaces.
